A networking event for professionals, students, and industry experts in Film Production, Pre and Post Vis, Volumes, Motion Capture, Special Effects, Game Technology, and more, where they can connect and exchange the latest updates in virtual production.

The Virtual Production Gathering was an excellent occasion to meet and engage with experts in the production field. At the event, we connected, shared ideas, and got hands-on with some demos developed by students at Breda University, whilst also helping those who are looking for a new challenge or a change in their career. Offering a relaxed setting, the event that took place over two days provided many networking opportunities and encouraged conversations with potential employees or employers.

In addition, those in attendance had the opportunity to experience a series of thought-provoking technical discussions and expert-led training sessions led by highly experienced professionals in the field.

VP Gathering 2024 brought together several talks by interesting speakers, including Brad Blackbourn, Jeff Olm, Mata Haggis-Burridge, Cedric Lejeune, Alina Kadlubsky, Florian Gallier and Joe Ponsford, discussing a variety of topics ranging from Colour Management for Virtual Production to VP beyond LED volumes, Interoperability, Workflows for Virtual Production, and introduction to new ways of working, technology and European educational initiatives.

These sessions facilitated the exchange of knowledge, allowing for in-depth discussions on industry trends, challenges, and breakthroughs. Each talk offered invaluable insights and went more in-depth with technical details compared to past years, to keep the professionals in the loop of the rapidly evolving Virtual Production landscape.

One presentation that resonated with the participants was Mata Haggis’ in-depth exploration of the current state of virtual production education in Europe and the potential of initiatives like VPSN (Virtual Production Studio Network). VPSN is an EU-funded project (ERASMUS+) aimed at enhancing education, nurturing emerging talents, and equipping students and educators for the fast-growing digital, visual, and creative sector.

As we wrap up this year’s gathering, we do so with a sense of anticipation and excitement for what the future will bring. The Virtual Production Gathering has evolved into an annual hub of creativity, a central meeting point for industry professionals.

Thanks to everyone who made it to the Virtual Production Gathering 2024! And kudos to the event organisers, none of this would have been possible without the dedication of Carlos Santos, Tuki Clavero, Joey Relouw, and the entire Cradle and BUas staff.

Let us keep the momentum going and continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in virtual production. Looking forward to seeing you next year at the 5th edition of the Virtual Production Gathering!
