This was the first time that BUas had its own stand during the GDC Expo, where we showcased the work of our students and explored opportunities for collaboration with industry professionals.

BUas was the sole Dutch representative with a stand at the event, and our games lecturers engaged in conversations with various companies, universities, and even met some BUas alumni such as Tobias Koepp (who works at Riot Games) and Frederik Plucinski (who works at Virtuos Games).

Lectures, panels, and roundtable discussions

During the conference, Neville, Bojan and Ard attended several lectures, panels, and roundtable discussions. One of the most notable presentations was given by Tim Sweeney (CEO of Epic Games) entitled "State of Unreal," where he discussed the latest developments in Unreal Engine and how companies outside the gaming industry (like the automotive industry) are increasingly utilizing it.

Check out the Unreal Engine 5.2 tech demo and full presentation in the video below.

Another interesting presentation was given by Adobe on their new AI tool, Firefly, a brand-new application (currently in Beta) that makes images depending on your input using artificial intelligence.

Naughty Dog also gave a good presentation on the materials used in the making of the game "The Last of Us Part II."
