The organisation, which acts as a central connector for studios, start-ups, and talent in the region, aims to position Breda as a nationally and internationally recognised hub for game development. With the appointment of new coordinator Sam, a BUas alumnus, in January 2026, Breda Game City has entered a fresh chapter focussed on collaboration and growth.

Led by chair Patty Toledo, who also serves as educational manager for the games programme at BUas, and board member Mata Haggis-Burridge, a research professor at BUas, the organisation now operates from a location designed to bridge the gap between emerging talent and industry. The Innovation Square houses the pre-game incubator, which provides workspaces for game students graduating with their own companies. These student entrepreneurs can then transition into B'Game, the game incubator initiated by the Municipality of Breda, creating a clear pathway from education to established business.

'By positioning ourselves at the Innovation Square, we can directly connect students to start-ups and established studios,' said Toledo. 'This helps support new ventures whilst also making Breda more attractive to larger game companies looking to expand into the region.'

The move aligns with BUas's broader strategy in gaming, which includes partnerships in Braventure and Bwise, and reflects a shared ambition to elevate Breda's profile as a thriving centre for game development. From its new base, Breda Game City will continue working to unite B'Game, local game companies, and the next generation of developers under one collaborative ecosystem.
